Lit: Top 5 Highlighters For That Dewy Glow

I'll disclaim this post by noting that I tend to love natural, dewy highlighters that give a "lit from within", almost sweaty (tasteful, etherial sweaty....okay?) glow (as opposed to blinding, super-pigmented highlighters - though there is a time and a place). In my experience, the best way to achieve that dew is through creamy products, so I think you'll find a theme here with a few exceptions. These are the top 5 highlighters that are on my highest rotation, with a few honourable mentions because I have a highlighter problem and can't name just 5.

1. RMS Living Luminizer

This product is my all-time favourite for a natural, iridescent glow. It has no glitter, colour or chunks in it, and it's almost a balm-like consistency. You can put it on alone to add a little more freshness to your naked face, or you can apply it over make-up. It adds a glow without being glittery, too shimmery or greasy. And don't worry about the balmy texture as it hasn't broken me out once. RMS is also all natural, and cruelty-free.

2. Glossier Haloscope in 'Quartz'

This is one of Glossier's cult products. Quartz is a champagne-coloured highlighter that does everything the RMS does, but with just a touch of a champagne-y glow. It comes in a convenient stick with an oil-based balm in the centre to keep your skin hydrated. I use this on all the high points of my face, the inner corner of my eyes and even on my lips as a lip balm or lip topper because it's got that little hydrating oomph to it.

3. Marc Jacobs Dew You? Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter

I love mixing the TINIEST drop of this stuff into my SPF or moisturizing base before applying any other make-up to add an extra bit of radiance to my skin. But you have to use this SPARINGLY or make sure you sheer it out while mixing, because a little goes a LONG way. It's super pigmented and can go from natural to blinding fast if you aren't careful (unless you're going for that look!).

4. Charlotte Tilbury Bronze/Glow Palette

One of my favourite powder highlighters, the Charlotte Tilbury Bronze n' Glow palette is a luxury item worth the splurge. It's a powder, but it's still goes on creamy and smooth. The highlight is very subtle and gives a perfect 'lit from within' golden glow. The bronzer is also a favourite so it's the perfect 2-in-1 product.

5. Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Incandescent Light

This is a little extra because it is only available as part of the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette that doesn't run cheap. It's also the only shade in the trio that Hourglass has not come out with a full-sized individual shade to buy.  It's also not technically a highlighter: it's a pressed finishing powder that is meant to add a soft-focus, glowy finish to the skin. Despite all these setbacks, I find the middle shade of the palette called "Incandescent Light" an absolutely gorgeous highlighter for that soft, luminescent finish that I absolutely adore. It's the only highlighter I've hit complete pan on, so that's saying a lot.
