Menswear Inspired.
I took my own casual twist on the "power suit" with this look by taking two classic pieces -- a crisp collared button-up and a tailored pair of black trousers -- and showed them what the weekend looks like.
Lately I've been thinking there's nothing more simple and sexy than a woman in a crisp button-up. I bought this Zara top last summer in search for the perfect "striped blue button-up" (this is apparently a thing, because clearly I found it). It seems to pair perfectly with any look. It contours the body giving a clean shape, but still has a little room for that boyfriend/casual fit. The low neckline adds a little feminine sex appeal to a mostly masculine shirt, which I love.
I paired this top with my wide leg Kit & Ace trousers (another must-have item I scored during Black Friday) and the Aritzia Stedman Coat to top off the clean lined and structured look I was going for. The high waist accentuates the feminine form, while the wide legs allow for more dynamic movement and breathability in the outfit. Pair this look with strappy heels and a bold lip to re-balance the feminine undertone of the outfit, or dress it down with some of your favourite trainers, like I have with my Adidas Stan Smiths.
